S1 Concept
When I started this whole car venture I had a yearning that I had not felt since the very first experiences in a sports car. One I couldn't find with anything.
This is all about a tool. The only thing that comes close to a great sports car is music, people say women but that requires another person's willingness. A sports car is an “at will” device to amplify the soul through heighten state of being, the subsequent contentment is something you don't get with anything else. I don't see anything to actually make a emotional comparison with, it's the benchmark experience to be judged against and that's the point of what I'm doing. Aram Samvelian. Were still going through developed well keep you posted as things progress.
Switching to Carbon fiber I write this all the molds to make or car out of carbon fiber are finished. I had a very tough struggle switching from aluminum to carbon fiber as aluminum is a little lighter on top of that with the right molds you can produce the car quicker.
Ironically its a cost issue. Carbon fiber is better but what put the last nail in the coffin for aluminum is the cost of the molds for aluminum...25 million dollars, that was the lowest bargain basement price. With a low volume car it just wasn't worth it. When I designed it in aluminum it was mostly because of the costs. In fact the car that you see in the pictures is almost all aluminum. There's carbon fiber in structural areas but mostly hidden there's no body panels made of carbon even the bumpers were made of what normal car bumpers are made of which is a type of thermoplastic. In a weird irony in this instance carbon is cheaper to than aluminum, the car in the pictures was hand formed to shape in an intense laboring process especially since its mostly 6000 series Aluminum which does not want to bend yield or stretch. Moving forward I don't see doing it that way, even in small numbers the price tag for Aluminum car is over $500,000 per unit, nor is spending 25 million in molds an option. |
Our future
Electrification
Five years of constant development in the chassis, suspension, total structure, battery, motors and drive systems, has yielded valuable experience we plan on implementing into our current and next model.
